Songwriter's ProgramSpecialized on the Waldzither for accompaning myself I started on two whole programs of own songs written in German.Meanwhile I transcribed several of my songs into English lyrics, often doing literally a new song to have the music structure matched. Some songs I write directly in English, like this Fado song, specially wrote and performed for the first time at the International Citternconference at the University of Coimbra, October 2007: Nightingale - Fadocopyright Martina Rosenberger 2007Since you stopped to talk to me,Held back your jokes and laughter Your silence made a fool of me Loving you for what you are Did I lose a brother, Did I lose a lover? Never shared my life with you But losing you still breaks my heart If once the nightingale sang for you Your mind will never lose the tune But you will long for the song In your heart ever after How can I miss, what I never longed to have Knowing our paths continents apart? Still I felt so grateful for your soul Living friendly on this earth. I wish you knew you always had been free -How could I wish to catch a bird?- still my eyes won’t stop to fill with tears knowing you forever gone If once the nightingale sang for you Your mind will never lose the tune But you will long for the song In your heart ever after What difference does it really make? My daily life has never changed Day by day time rushes by I only miss to hear your song
